In a recent episode of The Kevin Powell Podcast, metal band 6DEEP opened up about their latest EP, Dead in Five, the emotional weight behind it, and their upcoming tour. The conversation was raw, insightful, and full of energyâjust like their music.
The Meaning Behind Dead in Five
The band shared that Dead in Five was born from personal tragedy. âBrandon and I both lost a friend in the summer of 2023,â one member explained. âOne of my friends literally said, âIâll be dead in fiveââand it stuck with me. We wanted to honor him with this EP.â The record is filled with grief, catharsis, and experimentation as the band evolves their sound.
The DIY Grind
6DEEP takes a hands-on approach to their music, from writing and recording to planning their first-ever tour. âWeâre doing this all ourselvesâreaching out to venues, booking, and handling logistics,â they shared. Despite the challenges, their excitement is palpable.
Bassist Bobby also spoke about the bandâs creative process, noting how Discord has been a game-changer for remote collaboration. âI live an hour and a half away, so instead of constant travel, we hop on calls, share screens, and write together online. Itâs made everything so much easier.â
Dream Tours and 2025 Goals
When asked about their dream lineup, the band threw out names like Humanityâs Last Breath, Traitors, and Sylosisâall heavyweights in the modern metal scene. As for 2025, they have big goals: âWe want to get on a solid festival lineup and, letâs be realâquit our jobs and do this full-time.â
Advice for Upcoming Bands
Their biggest advice? Practice. A lot. âWeâre all basically traveling T-shirt salesmen,â one member joked. âYou have to sound tight live, draw people in, and sell merch. But also, donât take yourselves too seriouslyâenjoy the process.â
With Dead in Five streaming now and a tour on the horizon, 6DEEP is proving that independent bands with heart, grit, and raw talent can carve their own path. Keep an eye on these guysâbig things are coming.
