Black Sabbath is playing its final concert this summer, and Ozzy Osbourne is prepping his body with "heavy training."
The Prince of Darkness has already revealed he only plans to perform "little bits and pieces" with his former bandmates; however, the Back to the Beginning event will also act as his final solo concert too. This will mark his first full show since 2018.
"I'm in heavy training for this ['Back To The Beginning' concert in Birmingham, United Kingdom] that's coming up," Ozzy explained during the latest episode of his radio show (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). "I haven't done anything for — this will be seven years — and so I've been through all this surgery. It really is like starting from scratch."
He described the routine as “endurance training.”
“The first thing to go when you’re laid up is your stamina,” the 76-year-old noted, “so believe it or not, I’m doing two sets of three-minute walks a day and weight training. I’ve gotta get going, you know.”
“I’m waking up in my body," he added. "I mean, three minutes to you, for instance, is nothing, but I’ve been laying on my back recovering from umpteen surgeries.”
Back To The Beginning and is to take place July 5. The all-day event will also feature sets from Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, TOOL, and many other rock and metal icons.
“It’s my time to go Back To The Beginning… time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Ozzy said in a statement about the show. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love? Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
